Giovanni de Pietro di Bernardone, known as Francis of Assisi was an Italian mystic, poet and Catholic friar who founded the Franciscan Order, his deep love for nature and ANIMALS, his life of poverty and dedication to serving the poor.
At Holy Cross Parish we celebrated St. Francis’ feast day with a BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS. Families and friends were invited to bring pets for blessings and prayer. On this day, Deacon Craig Dutka officiated welcoming all personally and blessing each pet and their human with holy water. Our Pastor, Fr. Teofilo Useche, came to visit with the menagerie of pets gathered. Even the pets were smiling after their blessing.
